On Sunday, October 12, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM, Verde di Calabria is honored to inaugurate its autumn cultural series, “Le Notti dei Cuscini”, with a distinguished guest: Professor Enzo Siviero, engineer, academic, essayist, and current Rector of eCampus University.
The occasion marks the presentation of his book Human Bridges. Ponti Umani, a work that encapsulates a vision in which the concept of the “bridge” transcends the technical to become a powerful symbol of unity between shores, cultures, and civilizations. The author will engage in conversation with journalist Cristina Florenzano, offering the audience a moment of reflection and inspiration—an event for those who still believe in the power of ideas and the beauty of human ingenuity.
Professor Enzo Siviero has devoted his academic and professional career to the study and realization of bridges and complex infrastructures, always integrating scientific rigor with a refined sense of architectural aesthetics.
A former full professor at the Iuav University of Venice, he is also the founder and editor of Galileo, a longstanding publication of the Padua Engineers’ Association. Over the years, he has received numerous international accolades, including the Al Idrisi Award (2015) and the European Capo Circeo Prize (2017), recognizing the symbolic and cultural significance of his work.
Among his most visionary proposals is the TUNeIT project—a bridge connecting Tunisia and Sicily, designed to transform the Mediterranean from a boundary into a space of dialogue and cooperation.
Human Bridges. Ponti Umani offers a profound, multidisciplinary exploration of the bridge—not merely as a feat of engineering, but as a means of overcoming ideological, geographical, and cultural divides. The book weaves together engineering, philosophy, and a humanistic outlook, offering a perspective that is both timely and deeply resonant.
This event offers a rare opportunity to engage with one of the most influential thinkers in the field of engineering as a cultural and social practice. Verde di Calabria is pleased to welcome all who wish to take part in this dialogue—a dialogue that, much like bridges themselves, seeks to connect distant worlds and foster mutual understanding.
